Moscow hosted the 17th session of the Greater Tumen Initiative (GTI) Consultative Commission


Moscow hosted the 17th session of the Greater Tumen Initiative (GTI) Consultative Commission. The event was attended by delegations from China, the Republic of Korea and Mongolia, including representatives of Central and regional public authorities, business and academic community. The Russian delegation at the event was headed by Deputy Minister of economic development of the Russian Federation Alexey Gruzdev, who acted as Chairman of the Consultative Commission.

During the session the parties discussed cooperation in the area of GTI and the main results of the Russian presidency in 2016/2017 year. For the specified period at the Russian initiative and with the direct participation of the Russian side strategic documents contributing to the development of cooperation within GTI were prepared: the "Strategic action plan for 2017-2020" and "Concent Paper on Development of Mechanism for GTI Project office". These documents were adopted at the meeting of the Consultative Commission.

During the session it was announced about the signing of a Memorandum of cooperation in financing the construction of a grain terminal in the seaport of Zarubino. Its parties are: United grain company and North-East Asia EXIM Banks Association, operating under the auspices of GTI and unifying the participants of Export-Import banks of China and the Republic of Korea, the Development Bank of Mongolia and the Vnesheconombank.

In addition, during the session the GTI budget for 2017 and the project proposal for the implementation of the initiative were adopted. Following the session, the Consultative Commission adopted the Moscow Declaration of GTI, in which progress in cooperation within the framework of GTI in some areas had been marked and plans to develop the Imitative in the future had been reflected.

Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs at the event was presented by the Director of the Center for Multilateral Cooperation Sergey Mikhnevich. On the sidelines of the event Mr Mikhnevich held a number of meetings with representatives of the participating countries and the Secretariat of GTI, in which the foreign partners showed interest in development of cooperation with entrepreneurs and companies-members of the Union.
